Bio

Currently studying to get an MA in Global Studies at UCSB, I spend my time outside the classroom working on campus at the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) as a coordinator for the Middle Eastern Resource Center (MERC). That's why I'm in this get-up in the profile pic to the left!

My research areas of focus lies primarily in the field of Middle Eastern Women's Studies, namely the case of post-revolutionary Iran. I study gender representation in Muslim-majority countries and the place of gender in discourses on Islam, international conventions of human rights and global civil society. I came to the Global Studies program to better articulate my research for an interdisciplinary audience and to explore how different theoretical approaches can allow me to better analyze the case of gender representation in Iran relative to other Muslim-majority contexts and/or to global diaspora communities.
