Soha Saghazadeh

Soha is an MA/Ph.D. student in Film and Media Studies at UC Santa Barbara. Before moving to the West Coast, they earned their Master of Fine Arts degree at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Media Arts. Their thesis project was an interactive multimedia installation where they explored the fragmented visual history of Iran in the first half of the twentieth century. Their current research interests include digital activism through archival practices, visual histories of resistance in Global South, and the intersection of socially engaged art and interactive media. During this project, they got familiar with building electronic projects with Arduino and Raspberry Pi, and coding and designing with software such as Processing and MAX/MSP. Rather than moving back and forth between their practice and research, their goal is to merge them as an artist-scholar.
